| On Feb. 17, Geographic Iinformation Systems (GIS)
groups throughout the county (central, planning, water, environmental and public
safety) will begin tracking all projects through Maximo. The reason for the
change is that historically, these groups have worked in separate locations,
where customers sought services for maps, analysis and tables directly from GIS
staff or their supervisors. No method existed for coordinating projects to
prevent duplication of efforts, or determining when projects might benefit other
areas. Beginning in February, GIS customers
will make all initial job requests through a work order, just as they already do
for computer service. The new system will improve efficiency, eliminate
redundancies and provide accountability.
You now have three ways to order GIS services:
- This
handy request form,
which automatically submits your request.
-
Maximo
self-service (for internal customers only)
- Call the Call Center at 861-5000
This will be an easy transition for GIS
customers, and you’ll still get the same great customer service. Even though the
initial request will be through a work order, you’ll receive live service
throughout the project. Our mission
The mission of the GIS Services
unit is to maintain an accurate base map of county data, to
advance the strategic application of spatial data and GIS
processes to county business processes, to inform policy
discussions, and to provide general GIS support and consulting
within the county. The unit also maintains the software and
hardware infrastructure underlying the GIS to support our key
GIS partners in the Integrated Water Core Service, and Planning
Services.
